The Les Cheneaux Islands are one of the many wonders of The Great Waters Region. The Great Waters covers the Eastern end of the Upper Peninsula, including the Les Cheneaux Islands archipelago, which starts about 6 miles east of the Mackinac Bridge. These islands lace the northern shore of Lake Huron, forming one of the most unique geographic features of the Niagara Escarpment-- a crescent shaped limestone arch that runs from the Niagara region, through northern Lake Huron and Lake Michigan, to northern Wisconsin. The Great Waters offers many great traveling ideas within hours of the Les Cheneaux Islands. In an hour and a half, your could travel to the captivating Tahquamenon Falls for a day hike, or keep going north to Whitefish point. The Great Waters has many attractions to experience, along with already planned day trips and themed itineraries. The possibilities are endless in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
