Les Cheneaux Islands Art Gallery displays the works of Hessel native, Diana J. Grenier, as well as a selection of other local artists. Works include original art, using several media: pastel, oils, acrylic and watercolor paintings, pen and ink and pencil drawings, bronze and terra-cotta sculpture. Much of the original art is available as limited edition prints, framed and ready to hang in your home, business or cottage. Notecards and 'fridge magnets from the original art. Diana's work has been used as the official Les Cheneaux Islands Antique Wooden Boat Show poster for many years, and all of our posters are in stock and framed. Other gift items available in the gallery include Les Cheneaux Islands themed etched glassware, painted furniture and clever decorative art objects. Up North Studio is the creative space where much of the art displayed in our gallery is produced. Up North Studio is also where John Grenier makes traditional hand-lettered signs. John began lettering boats in the Les Cheneaux Islands in 1977, under the guidance of a legendary local character, Master Signwriter Carl Malmquist. Up North Studio is where the original "Les Cheneaux Islands" car window stickers are made. We are open May through September, Tuesday to Sunday, when the open sign is on. email
